Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Belated Thanksgiving to everybody! What a great weekend! It has been so nice having a few days out of school. Just a much needed break! Thanksgiving Day was great. We went to Kenny and Monica's to celebrate with the Finley's. The food was delicious and it was nice to see Aunts and Uncles and cousins that we don't get to see too often.

Nate, Matt, Kara, and I braved the Black Friday crowds and went to KC on Friday. I admit, it was a little crowded but we got a lot accomplished and got some great deals. I recommend it to anybody who isn't afraid of a little line! OK, a long line but you know what I meant!

As I am typing this, we are in Parsons at Chelse's. It is Saturday afternoon and we are eating another delicious meal in about 30 minutes. I can hardly wait! :) Tomorrow, we are heading out to Dave and Julia's for another great meal. I am so thankful for such wonderul family and the times we get to spend together.

Nothing too exciting going on here but thought I'd update anyway. Basketball started last Saturday for Brecca and it went a lot better than expected. They actually scored some baskets! I will say it is a good thing they don't call traveling! No baskets yet for Brecca but there have been a few attemps so hopefully she'll land one by the end of the season. It was funny yesterday because Brecca had the ball and was determined to pass it to Avrey. She ran around the court (without dribbling) past several other open blue shirted players and finally made a not so good pass to a not so open Avrey! They were both happy about it though so I guess that is all that matters. Who really cares about scoring anyway - as long as you pass to friends!
I had to miss her game last week so I could go to my Praxis test at Pitt State. It was really a lot tougher than expected! Let's hope I passed so maybe I can get a job sometime in the near future! I will update when I know anything. They said it could be a month before we hear anything. My thinking may not have been the best on it. I figured I would take it once without studying for it whatsoever and if I failed then I would know I needed to study more next time. Why study if you don't have to??? Some things never change, huh? :)

We are looking forward to the Thanksgiving break and then I only have 9 days of school left. I really am going to miss my kids in Erie. I have gotten pretty attached to them in the last few months! I am sure I will be subbing next semester and my cooperating teacher said she would take a personal day so I can come back and sub for her!

Nice save Poppy!

Yesterday was Poppy's birthday so we called to wish him Happy Birthday. Brecca happened to ask Poppy how old he was and Poppy said 77. He then adds "I bet you can count that high." She says "I can count to 100 - wanna hear. 1, 2, 3, 4......" Being the quick thinker that Popster is, he says "Why don't you wait until the next time that your out here and then you can count for me in person." Apparently, Popster wasn't up to hearing a 6 yr. old count to 100 over the phone! Honestly, who can blame him!

Witches and Ghosts

One night last week Braylee came downstairs after being put to bed. She tells Nate and I that Brecca keeps trying to scare her by laughing like a witch. Brecca is not far behind so I ask her "Brecca is that true?" "Yeah," she says. I asked her what a witches laugh sounded like and she does an almost exact imitation of the witch on the Wizard of Oz. We told her no more laughing like a witch and trying to scare Bray and to get back up in bed.

Last night, Braylee comes downstairs once again. This time Braylee says "Mom, Brecca is pretending to be a ghost and saying in a scary voice "I am a ghost. Braylee, you are so pretty and I want to marry you." I couldn't help myself! I had to laugh a little at that one!

Just a quick, funny story about voting. Brecca came home from school on Tuesday and informed us that a boy in her class said his mom voted for Barack Obama. I asked her if she knew who else was running and she said "Yeah, John McCain." (Duh!) I asked her who she was going to vote for and she said "Well, I don't really know either of them and I don't like to vote for people I don't know, so I'm not going to vote for anybody!" :)

Trick or Treat

Spook Parade

Brecca was in the Spook Parade Thursday night. Well, I am not actually sure you could say she was in it. Let's just say she walked down Main Street hiding behind Nathan's leg the entire time! we tried to explain to her that Hannah Montana would not be shy about being in a parade but she wasn't buying it! She wouldn't even let us take her picture as she walked by! She says she doesn't know if she will be in it next year - it depends on if she is scared or not! She did have quite a fan club there though watching her parade debut!
